From handwoven textiles and oversized outerwear to shoes with texts and avant garde headgears, Lakme Fashion Week winter/festive 2014 saw a pool of trends. Here’s my pick of the top 5 trends of this season.
1. Vintage details have been buzzing around for a while now. But the Lfw winter/festive brings it to the forefront. From hair and background music to sari and jumpsuit, the style has been re worked with a twist to make indian women look modern yet unique. As seen at (L-R) Aartivijay Gupta, Anushree Reddy, Quirkbox.
2. Metallics- Gold and Silver dazzled at the Lfw runway. It’s about bling and shine this season. So don’t be afraid to wear metallics in the day, or to a family function. Dazzle them all with your shine. While, Showstoppers Kirti Sanon, and Sherry Shroff were seen wearing metallic skirts, Amit Aggarwal was all out juxtaposing metallic+sheer! Sanjay Garg created a wedding wear fit collection, with warp and weft creating a unique metallic texture. As seen at (L-R) Amit Aggarwal, River Island for Jabong, Sanjay Garg for Raw Mango, PapaDontPreach by Shubhika
3.Cape- in all it’s form and glory was a runway favorite at Lfw. Pair it with a draped sari, or let it fall over a classic LBD, lady like or androgyny. Whatever your style is, cape is going to be an easy favorite for every wardrobe this season. As seen at (L-R): Sonakshi Raaj, Neha Agarwal, Frou Frou by Archana Rao, Selvage by Chandni Mohan.
4.Sports Luxe- You’ve read my blogpost on it (here), you’ve seen me vouching for it every now and then, and I’m saying it again. One of the biggest trends of this season is Sports-luxe. Coming out to be a little more mature from last season, pairing sneakers with Skirts, or Sweat shirt with Sari, designers’ take on sports luxe story contrasts well against muted palettes, pretty pastels and colourblock pieces. As seen at (L-R): GAGA by Tanya Sharma, Ilk by Sgva, Huemn by Pranav Mishra & Shyma Shetty.
5.Layering- Whether you are a fan of Minimalism or Maximalism, this was Runway’s Hot favorite trend. Mixing prints, textures and fabrics, layering pieces together has no rules, this season. Pair up interesting colors and textures under an oversized garment piece, and you’re on trend-bang on! Number of garments equally proportionate to your body size make just the right combination. As seen at (L-R): Anuj Bhutani, River Island for Jabong, Poco & Jacky, Ikai by Ragini Ahuja.
Trust me ,from so many ‘rock-your-world trends’ to choose from, it was really difficult for me to come up with just 5!
So tell me what you think about my picks in the comments below; which trend you cant wait to try, and which one you’re surely not going to try 😉
